Melbourne Lymph Drainage Centre established in 1990 with the intent to better equip therapists for professional excellence and maximize skills and confidence. All courses are designed to upgrade skills for practising therapists, nurses, physiotherapists and allied health professionals. The focus is on Manual Lymph Drainage training including clinical aspects for lymphoedema, palliative care and post operative clients.
Astrid Diercks has provided industry-based training for over 30 years. She enjoys the theory and practical aspects of learning and believes in ‘maximum standards’ rather than the minimum. Other courses offered at Melbourne Lymph Drainage Centre in Collingwood are Foot reflex zone therapy, Stretching/ Soft tissue mobilisation, Hot Stone therapy and Matrix Rhythm therapy training. All courses offer superior outcomes due to restricted class numbers. The training space is spacious and modern with plenty of real daylight.
Astrid Diercks was born and educated in Germany. She trained in Physiotherapy and Clinical Massage, Hydrotherapy and many other post graduate modalities. She completed her comprehensive MLD/Decongestive therapies in 1990 in Damp/Germany. Her clinical practise and lecturing expertise stretches over 3 decades.
Astrid arrived in Australia, initially to run and babysit a German practitioner’s clinic in Moe, Victoria. She moved to Melbourne in 1985 and hasn’t found the Stop button yet.
She started operating from North Carlton, relocated to North Fitzroy and East Melbourne before building and establishing ‘POND Massage Water Wellness’ in 2013.
Astrid and her professional team works full time at the centre, except when she conducts training courses. She consults and travels overseas frequently for teaching studying to maintain the ‘edge”. She holds extensive registration with Massage&Myotherapy Australia (formerly AAMT), LAV (Victorian Lymph oedema Ass.) and ALA (Australasian Lymphology Ass)
